We did Horseshoe in March of 2017. The snow makes for absolutely gorgeous views! In Spring, there’s a couloir right up the center. I put together a video from our trip if you wanted to check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zujYfABAchs

Hi Chelsey! Absolutely you can! They are close enough that it’s doable to bag them both in the same day, though strenuous. Keep aware of the weather though. If afternoon thunderstorms roll in, you don’t want to become a lightning rod!

Is that doable and is that allowed for the challenge? I read they are very close an use the same trail so just wondering ? And what do you think would be total round trip?

Thank you!

Hi Anna! It’s strenuous for the elevation and the vertical gain. There’s nothing tricky about it technically, other than some basic route-finding among the maze of trails left over from the old mining days. Great hike!

I’m not a serious hiker but love hiking in SoCal (I’m in SD). Is this trail strenuous due to the elevation or are there tricky spots? Thanks.
